Pinole Kitchen Remodel

This Pinole kitchen sits under a vaulted ceiling, and the goal was to make the most of that height and light. White shaker cabinets with gold pulls keep the room bright, and a pair of glass-front uppers in the corner break up the long run of doors.

The island is where the color comes in. It is painted navy and capped with marble that drops down the end in a waterfall. A big black and brass pendant hangs over it and gives the tall ceiling something to hold onto. Behind the range, a full marble slab runs up the wall, and the sink side gets simple white subway tile.

The kitchen opens straight into the dining room, so we carried the same wide oak floors through both. In the dining room we added white wainscoting, which gives the walls some shape and makes the room feel finished. A black sliding door leads out to the backyard.
