Berkeley Two-Story ADU

A two-story ADU tucked into the back of a Berkeley lot. It has two bedrooms and two full baths in 987 square feet, and it feels bigger than that thanks to vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light.

Downstairs is one open room. The kitchen runs along one wall in white oak with brass pulls, and the refrigerator hides behind a matching panel. The backsplash is handmade tile in pink, orange and red shapes, and it is the first thing you notice when you walk in. The same tile shows up again at a small coffee bar with oak shelves. Across the room, a built-in bench makes a cozy dining nook, and black French doors open to a paver patio.

The bedrooms are a real size, not an afterthought, with wide sliding closets and light oak floors. Each bath has its own personality. One has a bright yellow tile tub, and the other has a glass shower in deep green tile. Both have oak vanities and a long window that lets light in while keeping privacy.
